Sponsored Programs Resource Fair

UEI Sponsored Programs Administration (SPA) and Sacramento State Offices of Research, Innovation, and Economic Development (ORIED) are cohosting a resource fair Tuesday, September 24 from 10-2 in the Hornet Bookstore, third floor Boardroom. This will be an open-house style event where guests can visit whenever is most convenient for them.

Representatives from SPA and ORIED, in addition to UEI Human Resources, Payroll Services, and Business Services departments will be there to provide information, as well as various Sacramento State departments/units that provide administrative support to the Sac State’s overall research endeavors.

Submit Expenditure Requests via Smartsheet

As announced earlier this year, all expenditures (check requests, travel requests, travel claims, invoices, and PO requests) should be submitted using our SmartSheet portal (link). Access the portal by visiting our website, clicking “Manage Your Account” on the left side, and clicking the “Expenditure Submission” link at the top of the page. It may be helpful to bookmark the portal’s webpage.

As a reminder, please only include one expenditure request per submission. This helps us ensure accurate tracking and notifications. Additionally, to expedite processing, please combine your signed request document with any attachments into one PDF.

Can those in FERP Status Work on a Sponsored Project?

Faculty Early Retirement Program (FERP), is a program within the CSU system that allows eligible faculty members to transition from full-time teaching to retirement by teaching one semester per year or half-time for both semesters. Per information provided by the Office of Faculty Affairs (here), faculty “may not accept any additional employment in the CSU while on FERP.”  Therefore, the method to work on a sponsored project is via release time. Please work with your department regarding the campus release time process, and with your SPA Analyst to discuss budget availability for release time within your project.

Agreements Obligating UEI

As a reminder, any agreements (e.g., hotel contracts, equipment leases, consultants) obligating money or resources using a UEI account must only be between UEI and the vendor.  Additionally, only authorized UEI personnel can sign a contract between UEI and a vendor. Both requirements prevent UEI and the University from being inappropriately obligated. Please contact your SPA Analyst before verbally committing funds or upon receiving an agreement for services to have it properly reviewed and executed.
